This is the worst law firm in the world. If there was a negative score I wouldn't even give it a star. Here are the reasons:1 As a famous law firm, it violated professional operating regulations. When they changed my primary lawyer midway through the process, they did not follow the correct procedures and asked me to re-sign the contract. No professional ethics。2 On this basis, they unilaterally and forcibly terminated the services at a critical moment in the negotiations of my case.
3 Their professional lawyers may make some very low-level mistakes in the process of handling cases, such as getting the birthdays of relevant personnel wrong, which is very careless.。4
They charge very quickly, but the service is very slow. The fees are very high, but the service quality is very poor.5Even when I complained to their internal department, the maximum waiting time for the result was 8 weeks, but they made me wait for more than 16 weeks. I advise you not to use this law firm again, so as to avoid extreme disappointment, mental exhaustion and financial loss.

Misleading Risk Management and Success Fee Practices

My experience with this firm’s medical negligence department exposed troubling practices in how they manage risk and apply success fees. They rejected my claim, citing "too much risk," yet I later pursued it independently and won—without paying any fees. This calls into question their commitment to genuinely supporting clients.

Avoiding Risk at the Client's Expense

The firm seems unwilling to take on cases with even minor uncertainties. My claim, which they deemed too risky, was ultimately successful when I handled it myself. This approach prioritizes their own convenience over the merits of the case, leaving clients to face challenges alone.

Misleading "No Win, No Fee" Model

While they avoid potentially complex cases, they eagerly accept straightforward ones, charging clients a success fee despite the minimal risk involved. This practice feels like a "no win, no fee" con, where clients are charged for what amounts to guaranteed outcomes. The misleading nature of this model raises serious ethical concerns.

Profit Over Principle

By focusing on risk-free cases and charging for easy wins, this firm prioritizes profitability over proper client advocacy. Their approach appears more about financial gain than genuinely helping clients navigate complex legal matters.

Reporting to the SRA

I intend to report this firm to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for what I view as unethical practices under the guise of "no win, no fee." Clients deserve transparency and fair treatment, not a business model that profits disproportionately from low-risk cases while neglecting more challenging ones.

Final Thoughts

If your case is straightforward, be prepared to pay a success fee for what is essentially a predetermined outcome. If there’s even a hint of complexity, don’t expect this firm to stand by you. Their approach to risk management and success fees fails to align with the principles of fair and honest representation.

Don't believe the website when it notates about overseas properties! Standard practice is not to list them, it's not Pennington's responsibilty.

From best practice manager:
When drafting a will there is no duty to list the assets. It is common to set out a number of individual gifts and for the remainder of the testator’s estate to be referred to as ‘residue’; rather than individually listing each property or asset.

Just change you website about overseas properties Pennington's.!

Not happy that a relatives will. Lawyers trying to claim overseas asset not listed in Will or even in the deceased name? Trying to claim as past of estate even though bills and upkeep has been paid for by other relatives.

My advice would be to steer clear. The seller used Penningtons and they were at best incompetent. Throughout the process I was informed they had various paperwork and documents required for the sale. Months later it turned out they didn’t. They then put the pressure on me to sort their errors. Regarding their below comment this was documents around building safety and ownership, which I was informed their client had. Which they did not and then asked my solicitors to pay for them months later. This itself pushed the sale back months, costing me thousands due to paying for my new property as well as the empty one I could not sell without the documents I had been promised were signed and completed months prior. Uncontactable, unprofessional and overall terrible experience. Would advise anyone against using them. Have update since their response below
